Keynote: The future of fulfilment: How AI and additive manufacturing are revolutionising the warehouse

Session time: 1:40pm - 2:00pm

Ocado Technology’s intelligent warehouse automation has transformed the way the world thinks about online grocery fulfilment. In this talk, Product Director, Will Robertson, will take you on a journey through the evolution of their robotics systems - from conveyor-based fulfilment centres, to industrially 3D-printed retrieval bots working alongside computer vision powered picking arms. The first half of the session will explore the story of their successive bot generations - 400, 500, and now 600 - each solving distinct engineering and business challenges. The second half will dive deep into the novel use of additive manufacturing. Delegates will get a rare behind-the-scenes look at how topology-optimised robots are manufactured at scale. From powdery beginnings to automotive-style assembly lines, this is a story of rethinking automation, pushing the limits of design, and challenging the way we think about industrial manufacturing.

Presentation: Artificial Intelligence for better Supply Chain Management

Session time: 2:00pm - 2:20pm

This talk will explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is impacting Supply Chains (SC). We will delve into “unorthodox” supply chain AI research, including digital supply chain surveillance, collective model building, and agent-based automation. We will discuss how AI, if developed and adopted in the right way, has the potential to help prevent a range of endemic supply chain issues, from modern slavery to the emergence of bullwhip effects. Will AI help us “make supply chains better” or will we just use it to do what we have always been doing - just more efficiently? Lastly, SC-AI will be conceptualised through the lens of a human-mimicking Intelligent Agent to discuss how practitioners could collaborate with AI agents – and what risk factors they should pay attention to in the coming years.

Panel Discussion: Optimising Value Chain Performance: Insights and Strategies

Session time: 2:20pm - 3:00pm

Industry experts share strategies and insights on how to streamline operations, reduce waste, and boost performance through digital tools.
